It feels like he's been standing in front of Silco's office at the Last Drop for hours, contemplating giving up and running away. The only thing keeping him away from doing that is his pride, though it also makes him want to avoid confrontation, leaving him at an impasse.
Well, no time like the present. Might as well rip off the bandaid and get this over with. Ragna finally knocks on the door, letting out a resigned sigh as he does. ]

[ This might be the first time in his life he's actually waiting to be allowed in instead of bursting into the room. He almost winces at how meek he's acting; he's got no regrets, so why does it feel like he's guilty and about to be sentenced? It's probably too late to leave now... ]

He was fine with that, as there was a significant amount of work to do in a seemingly short amount of time, and he had already determined that he could trust Jinx entirely to Ragna. After all, the boy wasn't stupid enough to run out on her a second time; that would earn instant and permanent disownment on his part.
He was leaning over his desk, studying a map of Aldrip and a crude one of Rumpitur next to it. There were pins in the map of his businesses but others in areas of the city that he did not own but he considered as having strategic value. He did not look up from his work at the knock on the door, expecting it to be a staff member checking in on some order he had sent down earlier.
It wasn't until he recognized Ragna's voice that he lifted his head and stared at the door. He huffed and picked up his cigar to take a drag from.]
Don't just stand there with your tail between your legs, boy. Either come in or go back to Jinx.
[Silco had always been fueled by a willingness to nudge for progress, and now more than ever, it was in hyperdrive. He was considering how he could use Ragna for that end as well, assuming the man was in any condition to be useful. Both of his eyes were blue, the left glowing like the stone that Jinx so often tossed around, and he had a distinct healthiness to him.]
[ Yup, he hates it already. Why is he acting like a scolded puppy, anyway? It's not like he's done anything wrong; he did what he truly believed to be right, and while the city still suffered quite a bit in the whole kerfuffle, it was the best result anyone could've hoped for.
With that thought in mind, Ragna enters the room with his head held up high. He refuses to give Silco the satisfaction of seeing any trace of hesitation or regret; his conviction is stronger than that. It sure helps that his right arm and eye are back in working order, too, since the time he's spent missing those was rather pitiful. ]

[ He greets the older man casually, like he's been away on a sabbatical and not six feet under. He does note there's something different about Silco today, though it's not quite as much of a stark difference as coming back to find Jinx without her iconic braids, which might be why he pushes that thought to the back of his head. He's not here to deal with the old man's crap if he can help it. ]
[He surveyed the younger man with a sharp gaze, noting the differences or rather the additions that made up for what Ragna had lost. The eye and the arm were all back, and there was no sign of the sacrifice that the other man had made in order to prevent complete destruction of the city. He understood now, and he was no longer clouded with the emotion that had sent him out in the streets on a fools errand in the first place. Ragna came back and seemed to not be any worse for wear about it.
He hummed a noise of acknowledgement and returned to his work examining the maps on his desk. City repairs would need materials and funding, both of which he had in considerable quantities.]
You mean you are checking in to do the job that you were hired for? Or is this a mere break before you return to Jinx?
[He picked up a pin and drove it pointedly into the map where he had a cache of supplies, and he didn't bother to look up again. Ragna should know the drill by now.]
There are considerable repairs needing to be completed in the city from. [He said that almost conversationally.] Do you recall that island off of Rumpitur? The one where Chosen and Aldrip citizens were sent to for sacrifice?
[ Ugh. What is it about Silco that makes him feel like he's a little kid again, getting scolded by the old nun for procrastinating on his chores? Is that what they infamously refer to as "dad energy"? Whatever. They both seem to be ready to move on from that incident, and since they're in agreement for once, Ragna will not miss this opportunity. ]

[ "Fine" might be an overstatement; the girl appear to be stable at the moment, but he knows that could change. There's only so much he can do to support her, and while he does intend to keep spending time with her, making sure her father is safe is also a part of taking care of her.
Not that Silco is in any immediate danger. No, if anything, he seems... better than ever? Healthier, even. Which is... weird, all things considered, but is probably for the best? He has no context for the changes in the older man's appearance, and his behavior seems the same as always, so Ragna won't question it for now. ]

He supposed there was perhaps a little guilt about him and Jinx heading out to save Ragna and being so woefully unsuccessful. If only he had been then what he was now. No, he would make the most of it for as long as he could feel this good and productive.]

He had had to fix her hair, which could have ended in further tragedy given his lack of hair dressing experience.] Indeed, she will recover, but don't pull a stunt like that again.

Her family would keep things steady up until the time when that idiot boy abandoned her again and then (oh and then) he planned on closing ranks with this brute standing in his office and making full use of the man's destructive capabilities. Until then, he had other priorities to contend with.

Indeed, they had to make sacrifices to prevent their own people being eaten. [Such a sad tale! Anyway.] I was considering the value of buying that island. Land outside of Aldrip is not something I have pursued yet. It seems a reasonable play.
